First off, let me start by commending the first responders and volunteers working out of Orlando, Florida these past several days. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do.
How can one person be able to produce so much destruction and hate? These acts of terror on United States soil need to end, and they need to end soon. An attack in Orlando should not be used to stimulate political agendas.
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
We put this one first and in all CAPS for a reason. This applies to EVERYBODY. We cannot emphasize this one enough. Always be alert and aware. It is simply not possible to employ enough security to eliminate the world’s threats. Sadly, Orlando experienced that unfortunate truth a few days ago.
What if somebody in Orlando witnessed something suspicious occur moments before the attack, but held back from acting on it? Whether it is Orlando, Boston, or your hometown everybody should pay attention to their surroundings to help save lives.
When in doubt, report it.
Trust Your Intuition
If you get a bad feeling in your gut about a particular person or situation, then go with it. Trust your gut. It is always better to be on the safe side. When put in a suspicious situation with a feeling of uncertainty, trust your intuition to make the right decision. If you are unsure of what to do or feel as if there is a possible threat present, then do not hesitate to contact the appropriate authorities.
Stop Glorifying Terror in the Media
“It became the single most deadly mass-shooting event in United States history.”
“It became the most deadly attack on United States soil since September 11, 2001.”
It never stops. Major news channels will report these figures for weeks to come. Media companies should be focusing on reporting our national security efforts and how donations and efforts can be made to help victims and their families. Media coverage only fuels future terrorism.
